Getting Started
This guide walks you through converting your first folder of files to PDF using Batch Text to PDF.
1. Install the app
Download and install Batch Text to PDF from the Microsoft Store. Once installed, launch it from the Start menu.
2. Select your input folder
Click Browse and select the folder containing the files you want to convert.
The app scans the folder for supported file types and shows a count:
| Type | Extensions |
|---|---|
| Markdown | .md |
| Plain text | .txt |
| Word documents | .docx |
| Images | .jpg, .jpeg, .png, .webp, .gif |
Files in subfolders are not included — only files directly inside the selected folder.
3. Choose a page size
Select a page size from the dropdown. Common choices:
| Preset | Size |
|---|---|
| A4 | 210 × 297 mm |
| Letter | 216 × 279 mm |
| US Trade 6×9” | 152 × 229 mm |
| Custom | Enter your own width and height in mm |
See Page Sizes for the full list.
4. Set margins
Choose a margin preset:
- Normal — standard margins, good for most documents
- Wide — more whitespace, better for reading
- Narrow — tighter margins, fits more content per page
- Custom — enter a value in mm applied equally to all sides
5. Choose output settings
- Output folder — the subfolder name inside your input folder where PDFs are saved (default:
pdf) - Output mode — Per file creates one PDF per input file; Combined merges everything into one
combined.pdf - Page numbers — toggle to add page numbers to the output
- Skip existing — skip files that already have a PDF in the output folder
When two source files have the same base name, Per file mode automatically adds their source types to keep both PDFs instead of overwriting either one.
6. Convert
Click Convert. A progress bar shows each file being processed. When done, click Open folder to see the output.
Next steps
- Use Auto-pair images to combine a text file with a matching image — see Output Modes
- Choose Combined output to produce a single PDF from a whole folder
- Use filename prefixes like
01_,02_to control the order of files in a combined output
