Getting started

1. Create a human profile

Use the profile control in the top bar to add a local player. A human profile stores its own wins, draws, losses, streak, and saved games. Create more than one if people share the device.

2. Add an AI profile

Open AI profiles, choose the provider, and enter a short profile name, model, and API key. The app fills compatible base URLs for supported providers. Use Test connection before a match; it asks the selected model for a legal chess move.

3. Start a board

Choose New game, then select the seat type for White and Black:

  1. Human vs human — two local players share the board.
  2. Human vs AI — assign a human profile and an AI profile.
  3. AI vs AI — assign two AI profiles and watch, pause, or step through the game.

Choose untimed, 10 minutes, 5 minutes, or 3 + 2, then begin the match.

The app validates every AI move locally before placing it on the board. A provider never directly controls game state.
