• Whether the source PDF was signed, already encrypted, or malformed
• Whether the output used an empty or non-empty open password
• The permission settings selected
• The exact error text shown by the app

Never send real passwords or confidential source PDFs. If a sample is needed, create a synthetic PDF and use disposable test passwords.
